How can my student set up a meeting with the Counselor?
Parents can contact their student's teacher or the counselor directly to request a meeting.
A teacher or other staff member may refer the student to the counselor.
The student may self refer by asking their teacher to set up a meeting or by putting a request in the counselor's "mailbox" located outside her room.
Parents will be kept informed and made aware of reoccurring counselor visits however the confidentiality of a counseling relationship between the counselor and student will be respected.
School counselors may work with some students more frequently or in small group settings however a school counselor's role is not to provide ongoing therapy. This can be provided through ESAP or through a number of community agencies that the counselor can help connect you with.
